Christians visited the Stations of the Cross in the Old City of Jerusalem on November 20, in a prayer service for peace in the troubled city.
The public prayer service—which was approved by both Israeli and Palestinian officials—was held despite the tensions that have troubled Jerusalem since the bloody attack on a synagogue earlier this week. Organizers had earlier planned a “peace march” from Bethlehem into Jerusalem, but altered their plans after the terror attack.
The service began in Bethlehem, where participants were given olive branches to carry. Then they were taken by bus to the Old City, to continue with the Stations of the Cross, ending at the basilica of the Holy Sepulcher.
