Appeal for Gaza through the the Welfare Association and the United Nations

Dear Sani 
 
I am deeply saddened that as I am writing to you the people in Gaza are experiencing some of the most brutal attacks and massacres by Israel.  We are sure you are aware of the situation and have heard the heartbreaking stories of innocent children and civilians being attacked, which sadly have affected thousands of families, including one of our colleagues, Hassan Alhallaq, who lost his 9-month pregnant wife, two sons - Kinan aged six and Saji aged four, mother, sister, and other relatives, when their family home was bombed by an Israeli Apache helicopter. Hassan is in intensive care, we pray that God gives him and all victims the strength and power to deal with these tragedies.
 
The scale of human loss and destruction is immense, and the health sector is nearing collapse. According to the UN/OCHA more than one thousand Palestinians have been killed; at least 760 civilians of whom 226 are children, 6,233 have been injured, and more than 215,000 have been displaced.
 
As part of our social responsibility, Bank of Palestine (BOP) launched the "Palestine is in Our Hearts” appeal in cooperation with the Welfare Association and UNRWA.  We have contributed a total of $200,000 - to provide hospitals with the necessary medical supplies and support, and to provide basic needs, food, clothing, and shelter for the displaced victims. 
 
The need is much greater than this.  We are collecting donations through our branches, our ATMs, the bank's online banking service, and online using credit cards. These donations will be channeled through the Welfare Association and UNRWA.
 
I urge you to contribute to this appeal. Gaza needs your support.
