Today, December 12/ 2013/
H.H Pope Francis received the credentials of the new ambassador of the
State of Palestine to the Holy See, H.E Mr. Issa Jamil Kassasieh. The
ceremony was made according to the protocol of the Holy See for
accreditations of representatives of states at the Clementine Hall.
On
the occasion, H.H Pope Francis saluted the President of the State of
Palestine H.E Mr. Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people, saying that
every day he “prays for peace, justice and dignity in the Holy Land.”
Ambassador Kassasieh also briefed the Vatican Secretary of State
Archbishop Pietro Parolin on the difficult situation of the people of
Palestine under the Israeli occupation, and particularly about the
hardships being faced by Palestinian Christians. Ambassador Kassasieh
called upon the Holy See to work together with the State of Palestine in
order to preserve the historic Christian presence in Palestine, the
Holy Land.
